Does X (Twitter) compress photos?
X (Twitter) can compress images after upload, and how it does that is up to X. What you control is the file X receives: Evenpost, an app for X (Twitter) that lets an AI agent draft posts you approve on your phone, sends a JPEG within X's limits with its pixels untouched.

A photo can lose quality twice: once in whatever resizes or re-saves it before upload, and again in X's own processing. You cannot change the second step. You can skip the first.
Before X (Twitter) compresses images: what Evenpost sends
- A JPEG within X's limitsUp to 5 MB and 4096 px: the pixels are never re-encoded. Only the metadata is removed, and the rotation is kept.
- A PNGAn opaque PNG within the same limits keeps its pixels. Transparency is flattened onto white.
- A larger photoUploads up to 12 MB are accepted, then scaled down once, only as far as 5 MB and 4096 px, and saved as a JPEG.

How to send the sharpest photo
Export a JPEG under 5 MB with its longest side at 4096 px or less. Then nothing between your file and X has to shrink it. For a screenshot with small text, an opaque PNG within the same limits keeps every pixel.
What X does after
Once X has the photo, its processing is X's. Evenpost cannot change that and does not claim to. What it does promise is that the photo X receives is the one you approved, at the quality you sent. If a photo looks soft on X, check the file you exported first: that is the step you control.
Does Evenpost re-encode my JPEG?
Evenpost does not re-encode your JPEG when it is within X's limits, up to 5 MB and 4096 px. It only removes metadata such as EXIF and location data, and it keeps the rotation. A larger photo, up to 12 MB, is scaled down once, only as far as those limits.
What photo size should I upload to X?
The photo size to upload to X, for the least processing on the way, is a JPEG under 5 MB with its longest side at 4096 px or less. Through Evenpost that file reaches X with its pixels unchanged. Anything larger is scaled down to fit before it posts.
How many photos can one tweet have?
One tweet can have up to 4 photos through Evenpost, and each tweet in an X thread can carry its own. The first photo is the lead image, and you or your agent can change the order. Every photo is checked and cleaned on upload, before you approve the post.
