Do I need an X developer account to post with AI?
You need an X developer account to post with AI only if your agent calls X's API itself, through an app and keys of your own. With Evenpost, an app for X (Twitter) that lets an AI agent draft posts you approve on your phone, you sign in with X once and never touch a developer app.
Evenpost / Answers / Need an X developer account?
An AI agent's words reach X in one of two ways. Either the agent, or a script it runs, holds the keys of an app you created on X's developer site and calls X's API to post. Or a service holds the connection to X, and the agent talks only to that service.
What posting with your own X developer account takes
- A developer account and an appCreated on X's developer site, with OAuth set up so the app can act for your account.
- KeysStored where the agent or the script can read them. Whoever holds them can post as you.
- X's per-post feeX charges for each post created through its API, and more for a post with a link, on your app's account.
- CodeSomething to upload photos, post an X thread in order, and handle X's limits and errors.
Posting with AI without an X developer account
Through Evenpost you sign in with X on X's own page, once, in the app. Evenpost asks X for read, write, media upload and staying signed in, and stores the sign-in token encrypted. Your agent gets an Evenpost key instead, which can draft and read but never approve or post. X's per-post fee is Evenpost's cost: you see counts of tweets and link posts, never money. Setup takes about 2 minutes, and your key never goes on the command line.
Can I keep my own X developer app?
You can keep your own X developer app for other work, such as search or reading posts, while you use Evenpost. Evenpost does not need it or use it: the posts you approve go out through Evenpost's own connection to X, and X's per-post fee for them is Evenpost's cost.
What happens if my Evenpost key leaks?
If your Evenpost key leaks, whoever has it can fill your drafts but never your timeline: the key cannot approve or post. Revoke it in Settings, make a new one, and run the login command again. A leaked X developer key is worse, because it can post as you at once.
How long does setup take without a developer account?
Setup takes about 2 minutes without a developer account. You sign in to Evenpost with X, create a key in the app, log in once in a terminal, and add one command or config entry to Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor. Your key is never typed on the command line.
