What are X's posting limits?

X's developer documentation, checked on 6 Nov 2026, sets the X (Twitter) API post limit at 100 posts per 15 minutes for each user and 10,000 per day (24 hours) for each app, shared by everyone on that app. Evenpost, an app for X (Twitter) that lets an AI agent draft posts you approve on your phone, never retries a post that hits a limit behind your back.

The X (Twitter) API post limit, per day and per 15 minutes

  1. Per user: 100 posts per 15 minutesCounted for each account that posts through the app. Each tweet in an X thread is one post.
  2. Per app: 10,000 posts per 24 hoursShared by everyone who posts through that app. Evenpost is one app, so this cap covers all its users together.
  3. Over the limit: a 429X answers "Rate limit exceeded" with the time its window resets. Nothing is created until then.

X can change these numbers, and its developer console shows the current ones. X's help centre also lists daily limits for each account, whatever app or device does the posting.

What Evenpost does on a 429

Evenpost reads the time X gives and never retries a post on its own. If the first tweet hits the limit, the draft fails with "X rate limit, retry after" and a time in your time zone; post it again after that. If an X thread is part way out, the draft is marked for a check: tap Reconcile, then Resume, and it continues from the first tweet that did not post. A photo upload is tried once more only if X asks to wait under 30 seconds.

Why you rarely get near them

With natural spacing you stay far below X's limits: at most 6 posts a day by default, 75 to 120 minutes apart. The beta plan covers 150 tweets and 10 link posts every 30 days.

How many tweets can I post per day with the X API?

With the X API you can create 100 posts per 15 minutes for each user, and 10,000 per 24 hours for each app, per X's developer documentation on 6 Nov 2026. That page lists no separate daily figure per user, but X's help centre sets daily limits for every account.

What does a 429 mean when posting to X?

A 429 when posting to X means you hit a rate limit: X refused the request and created nothing. The answer says when the window resets. Wait until then, because retrying sooner only adds failed calls. Evenpost shows you that time and leaves the retry to you.

Do all Evenpost users share one limit?

All Evenpost users share X's per-app limit of 10,000 posts per 24 hours, because Evenpost is one app on X. Each account also has its own limit of 100 posts per 15 minutes. A beta account can send at most 150 tweets per 30 days, a small share of that cap.
