Does a link make an X post cost more?
Yes: X's API charges a link post fee, so a post that contains a link costs more to create than a plain one. With Evenpost, an app for X (Twitter) that lets an AI agent draft posts you approve on your phone, that fee is Evenpost's cost, and a tweet with a link uses one of your 10 link posts per 30 days instead.
Evenpost / Answers / X's link post fee
X sets its rates on its developer pricing page and can change them. What matters day to day is simpler: a link is not free to send, so it should earn its place in the post.
How Evenpost counts the X API link post fee
- One link post per tweet with a linkA tweet with one link or three uses one link post, and it still counts as one of your 150 tweets.
- A bare domain countsX turns a bare domain such as example.com into a link, so Evenpost counts a tweet with one as a link post.
- In an X thread, tweet by tweetEach tweet that carries a link uses one. A 5-tweet X thread with a link in the last tweet uses 5 tweets and 1 link post.
- Shown before you approveYour agent can check which tweets carry a link before it drafts. Before a post goes out, the app shows how many tweets and link posts you will have left this period.
Where to put a link
Put the link in one tweet, where it does the most work: in an X thread, usually the last tweet, after the claim it backs up. The free Write an X thread skill does this by default, and Write a post asks whether a link is worth it instead of removing it silently. A link also counts 23 characters toward X's length limit, whatever its real length.
How much more does X charge for a link post?
How much more X charges for a link post is set on X's developer pricing page, and X can change it; it is many times the rate for a plain post. This site gives no figures, because through Evenpost you never pay it: you see link posts used and left as counts, never money.
Does a bare domain count as a link on X?
A bare domain counts as a link on X when X turns it into one, which it does for names such as example.com. Evenpost takes the careful reading and counts a tweet with a bare domain as a link post. Your agent can see which tweets carry a link before it drafts.
What happens when I run out of link posts?
When you run out of link posts, the app tells you before a tweet with a link can go out, and posts without links still go out as usual. Your link posts start again at 10 when the next 30-day period begins. The app always shows link posts used and left.
